What Should Be Considered in PPR Pipe Installation?

10.12.2021

Although it may seem simple, there are important details that need to be considered during the installation of polypropylene plumbing systems.
However, do not forget that systems must be preserved, stored and assembled under appropriate conditions, necessary pressure tests have to be made after installation, also the systems must be used under appropriate pressure and temperature conditions for long-lasting use.

Ambient Temperature
If PPR pipes are transported or stored at a temperature below zero, they must be kept in an environment with a temperature above zero for at least 2 hours before installation. Recommended ambient temperature for installation is 15°C and above.
Same Brand Product
Use the same brand of pipes and fittings, taking into consideration that different manufacturers may use different raw materials and may not comply with the standards. Same brand products will reach the melting point simultaneously, thus providing a healthier source.
Visual Control
Check items for breaks and cracks to ensure that pipes and fittings have not been damaged during transportation.
Cleaning
If the parts of pipes and fittings to be welded are very dirty, clean them before welding. Especially oily surfaces significantly reduce the welding quality.
Machine Temperature and Times
Welding machine should be set to 260 °C and sockets suitable for the size to be welded should be attached. For faultless welding, it should be ensured that the welding times and depths are adhered to.
Unification and Cooling
Pipe and fittings should be welded to each other in a linear manner, the pipe should not be bent or turned during welding, and no force should be applied until it cools.
