Fittings

31.10.2022

The right choice of pipes and fittings and its installation provides uninterrupted functioning of plumbing systems. Assembly and welding should be suitable for the area of use and should be carried out by professionals. Installation of engineering systems requires fittings with different properties, each fitting has its own characteristics, and its choice depends on the area of use.

What are the fittings?

1) An elbow is used to change the direction of pipes. Although there are many types, the most commonly used ones are the 90° and 45° elbow, the male elbow, the reduction elbow, and the curved elbow.

2) Tee are used in connections with three outlets. Types of tees that are also used for pipe branching can be listed as follows: male tee, inegal tee, tee. Use of these fitings provides significant savings.

3) The nipple straight has male threads at both ends, it is used to extend the system by connecting two fittings with the same diameter. A reduction should be used to connect two fittings of different diameters to extend the installation. They can also connect two fittings with an internal thread.

4) The cross is mainly used in heating installations. It provides two perpendicular directions of the pipeline in an engineering installation. Thus, the water in the main pipe can be transferred to other pipes from both sides.

5) The need for a coupling arises when the length of the pipe is not enough. The coupling provides an extension of the pipe by welding another pipe to it. The reduction coupling is used to connect pipes of two different diameters.

6) Transition union is used to connect two pipes without turning them. There are types with a metal threaded or plastic connection, depending on the area of use. It is often used for transition between PPR and metal parts. Usually, there are combinations of brass and polypropylene raw materials.

7) Reduction is a connecting fiting used in cases where the diameter of the reduction pipe needs to be narrowed or expanded.

8) End plug helps to close the open end of the installation. And plug is a pressure resistant fitting that stops the flow by closing the pipe mouth or the open sides of the fittings. The most important factor in the use of blind plugs is to provide sealing with the help of teflon tape or linen string. During the application of test pressure to the system, the battery and tap connection points are usually closed temporarily with plastic threaded end plugs.
